Q114. No, this is incorrect. The ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers) guidelines are 10% of the speed limit + 2mph, to allow for different speedometers, i.e. 35mph is the speed at which vehicles will begin to be recorded over the limit by the cameras.

Speed limits are the maximum for the road, not a target, and it is often appropriate to drive well below that limit.

Individual motor patrols can enforce below these guidelines if conditions warrant this course of action, e.g. in bad weather or heavy traffic.
