Safe Speed for Life - Safety Cameras, Fact or Fiction

Q1	If you drive at a certain speed then the cameras can’t take a photograph.
Q2	I know where all the cameras are so I won’t get caught.

Q5	I’ve no need to worry about cameras – I’ve got a device that warns me if there’s one near by

Q7	The police should be out catching real criminals, not wasting their time on law-abiding motorists
Q8	There’s no point having cameras working at night when the roads are quiet.

Q2. All our fixed camera locations and mobile sites can be found on this website. Our aim is for everyone to be aware of where the cameras are: we’ve got nothing to hide. Cameras included in the partnership scheme are located where there is a history of people being killed or seriously injured so it makes sense to slow down at these spots.

Camera enforcement officers visit mobile sites on a rolling basis and additional speed enforcement is also carried out by police officers at other sites of local concern.

Additional cameras will also be in operation during roadworks, so safety cameras can be in operation at varying locations across Northumberland and Tyne and Wear at any one time. It’s important for all of us to adopt a safe speed approach to our driving at all times, not just at camera sites.
